| Note | Quand son père, Maurice Dupin, meurt en 1808, elle a tout juste 4 ans. Aurore dite George Sand sera élevée de 4 à 16 ans par sa grand-mère paternelle à Nohant. Après trois années de pension à Paris, elle revient à Nohant jusqu'au décès de sa grand-mère survenu le 26 décembre 1821. Par son testament rédigé le 29 mai 1821, Aurore héritait de tous ses biens. Son oeuvre évolua au gré de ses passions, Jules Sandeau, Alfred de Musset, Pierre Leroux et Frédéric Chopin. Ses romans furent d'inspiration sentimentale, mais aussi sociale et rustique. |
